Job Title:Administrative Assistant – Registrar’s Office

Responsibilities: Heavy customer service role.

  • Provides receptionist and administrative assistant duties for the department. Serves as first point of contact assisting students and potential students in person and over the phone.

  • Assists with grade submission, processing, and distribution.

  • Provides academic software database support.

  • Provides registration support, attendance monitoring, and academic progress assistance.

  • Handles enrollment, good student, and full-time verifications; processes transcript requests.

  • Provides extensive student records management.

  • Facilitates interdepartmental work flow.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent; bachelor degree preferred. Coursework in business, management, or education.

  • Knowledge of FERPA applicable to student records preferred.

  • Several years of administrative assistant experience in a highly visible office setting; experience in higher education preferred.

  • Superior customer service skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills in person, in writing, over the telephone and via e-mail.

  • Expert computer skills using Microsoft Office; prefer advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Jenzabar (academic software).

  • Records management experience preferred.

  • Must be a team player; ability to multi-task; excellent organizational skills; accuracy and attention to details are important.

  • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required for some events.


Job Title: Bookstore Assistant Manager

 

Responsibilities—Assists in conducting daily operations of the College Bookstore including: 

  • Provides quick and efficient customer service in a pleasant and accurate manner to students, faculty, and staff.

  • Responsible for closing the bookstore each day.

  • Assists in the purchasing of tools stocked in the bookstore.

  • Assists in setting tool restocking levels and assessing new tool category opportunities.

  • Leads staff in tool purposing training.

  • Communicates with faculty and bookstore staff regarding discontinued tools and tool model number changes, etc.

  • Coordinates staff in maintenance and organization of bookstore and storage areas.

  • Trains, tasks, and monitors student employees.

  • Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual physical inventory. 

  • Participates in and complies with all relevant processes for bookstore procedures (i.e. student account process, closing paperwork, student tool issue inventory, faculty tool adoption, etc.). 

  • Is available to maintain bookstore hours and able to supervise staff in Bookstore Director’s absence. 

Requirements: 

  • Associates degree in business administration or related field.
  • Excellent customer service skills to build relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Two to three years of retail management experience with an emphasis on tools required; retail cash handling/cashier experience required.

  • At least one year of purchasing and receiving experience preferred; ability to assess inventory levels and buying needs from point of sale software a plus. 

  • Excellent automotive, machining and HVACR tool product knowledge, including analog and digital meters. Ability to troubleshoot problems with tools and assess damage due to defective tools vs. customer caused.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Bookstore background and educational setting preferred.

  • Supervisory experience helpful.

  • Job requires the ability to stand for long periods and perform heavy lifting.

  • Normal hours will be 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. with 30 minutes for lunch on Monday – Thursday, with earlier hours acceptable on Friday. Extra hours are required at the start of each semester and in the Bookstore Director’s absence. Occasional weekend hours required during peak periods and special school events.


 

Job Title: Adjunct Instructor

Ranken Technical College has a wide variety of adjunct instructor positions available for upcoming semesters. Adjunct instructors are part-time teachers for day and/or evening school classes who are paid on a contractual basis per semester. Adjunct faculty members bring valuable knowledge, industry experience, and diversity to the classroom. Many instructors have full-time jobs elsewhere or are retired trade and business professionals. They choose to teach because they find it rewarding to interact with students, help direct the future of their careers, and give back to the community. 

Education requirements vary and to teach occupational/technical courses, faculty members must have the minimum credentials required to work in that field and relevant work experience. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are needed along with basic Microsoft Office skills.

  • General Education subjects requiring a master’s degree: Math, Science, English Composition, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, Computer Literacy, Business;
  • Technical Education subjects requiring an associate degree: Automotive Maintenance, Automotive Collision Repair, High Performance Racing, Architectural, Carpentry, Heating and Cooling, Major Appliance Repair, Plumbing, Electrical, Information Technology, Mechanical Maintenance, and Machining Technology.
